Wikipedia - North-West Tasmania Thunder

The North-West Tasmania Thunder are an Australian basketball team based in Ulverstone, Tasmania. The Thunder compete in the Men's NBL1 South and play their home games at Ulverstone Sports & Leisure Centre. For sponsorship reasons, they are known as the St.LukesHealth North-West Thunder.

I NW Tasmania Thunder sono una squadra di pallacanestro australiana con sede a Launceston, Tasmania. Giocano nella South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL). La squadra è stata fondata nel 1981 come Launceston Casino City e ha giocato nella National Basketball League (NBL) dal 1983 al 1990. Nel 1991, la squadra si è trasferita nella SEABL e ha assunto il suo nome attuale.

I Thunder hanno vinto sette campionati SEABL, nel 1994, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2004, 2012 e 2013. Sono stati anche vicecampioni per cinque volte, nel 1993, 1996, 1998, 2000 e 2002.

I Thunder sono una delle squadre di maggior successo nella storia della SEABL. Sono stati la prima squadra a vincere tre campionati consecutivi e sono l'unica squadra ad averne vinti quattro di fila.

Alcuni dei giocatori più famosi che hanno giocato con i Thunder includono Mark Bradtke, Andrew Gaze, Ricky Grace e Shane Heal.

I Thunder giocano le partite casalinghe al Silverdome di Launceston. Il palazzetto ha una capacità di 5.000 spettatori.
