Asociația Fotbal Club Progresul Spartac 1944 București, commonly known as Progresul Spartac București or simply as Progresul Spartac, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, that competes in the Liga II.
The club was founded by a wing of the former club, Progresul București, but does not claim the record, logo or the succession of the old entity, despite the fact that it uses some elements of the original brand (bleu and blue colors; the sycamore leaf), called itself "direct descendant of Progresul București" and its objective is "to revive the spirit of Progresul from Cotroceni".
History
Founded on 16 June 2014 by a wing of the former club, FC Progresul București, Progresul Spartac București is a club that does not claim the record, logo or the succession of the old entity, despite the fact that it uses some elements of the original brand (bleu and blue colors; the sycamore leaf), called itself "direct descendant of Progresul București" and its objective is "to revive the spirit of Progresul from Cotroceni".
In the 2016–17 season, at two years after foundation, the team won Liga IV – Bucharest series and qualified for the promotion play-off where it played against Voința Crevedia, Ilfov County champions. After the first leg, played in Bucharest, the Romanian Football Federation declared forfeit in favor of Voința Crevedia, because Progresul Spartac did not have a doctor at the match. One week later, in the second leg, played this time in Crevedia, Progresul Spartac overturned the situation, winning with 6–2 and gained promotion in the Liga III.
In the first season of Liga III, Progresiștii were the revelation of the second series where after a tough duel against Farul Constanța and even a 7–0 win against them, Progresul had to see itself defeated in the end and finished the season only on the 2nd place. Next season the bleu and blues were again a hard-to-beat team, winning against the big favourite of the series Rapid București and bringing to the stadium located in the "Sparrow's entry" a second division club, Universitatea Cluj, with the occasion of a round of 32 Romanian Cup match.
Il club venne fondato il 22 gennaio 1944 con il nome di Societatea Sportivă Progresul București, per iniziativa di un gruppo di studenti e lavoratori. Nel 1946 vinse il suo primo trofeo, la Coppa di Romania. Nel 1950 cambiò nome in Partizanul București e nel 1951 in CCA București. Nel 1954 vinse il suo primo campionato rumeno e nel 1956 la sua seconda Coppa di Romania. Nel 1958 cambiò nuovamente nome in Steaua București e nel 1967 vinse la sua terza Coppa di Romania.
Nel 1986 vinse la sua quarta Coppa di Romania e nel 1987 il suo secondo campionato rumeno. Nel 1989 vinse la sua quinta Coppa di Romania e nel 1990 il suo terzo campionato rumeno. Nel 1991 vinse la sua sesta Coppa di Romania e nel 1992 il suo quarto campionato rumeno. Nel 1993 vinse la sua settima Coppa di Romania e nel 1994 il suo quinto campionato rumeno.
Nel 1996 vinse la sua ottava Coppa di Romania e nel 1997 il suo sesto campionato rumeno. Nel 1998 vinse la sua nona Coppa di Romania e nel 1999 il suo settimo campionato rumeno. Nel 2001 vinse la sua decima Coppa di Romania e nel 2002 il suo ottavo campionato rumeno.
Nel 2003 vinse la sua undicesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2004 il suo nono campionato rumeno. Nel 2005 vinse la sua dodicesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2006 il suo decimo campionato rumeno. Nel 2007 vinse la sua tredicesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2008 il suo undicesimo campionato rumeno.
Nel 2010 vinse la sua quattordicesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2011 il suo dodicesimo campionato rumeno. Nel 2012 vinse la sua quindicesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2013 il suo tredicesimo campionato rumeno. Nel 2014 vinse la sua sedicesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2015 il suo quattordicesimo campionato rumeno.
Nel 2016 vinse la sua diciassettesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2017 il suo quindicesimo campionato rumeno. Nel 2018 vinse la sua diciottesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2019 il suo sedicesimo campionato rumeno.
Nel 2020 vinse la sua diciannovesima Coppa di Romania e nel 2021 il suo diciassettesimo campionato rumeno.
